Have you heard of the Flavor Forecast? The experts at McCormick's have put together a forecast for the flavors that are expected to be widely used during the grilling season this year.
So what's on that list? First it gives seven flavors to watch for.
Sweet Tea is first and can be used for marinades and sauces.
Next is Smoked Tomatoes. These are great for a variety of dishes, includes pizzas, salads, and as sides for main courses. Check out my grilled tomatoes post for one way that you could prepare tomatoes on the grill. Add some smoke to those dishes to get the smoky flavor with the tomatoes.
Oregano is next. Use it with pizzas, grilled breads, and meats. It will bring a Mediterranean flavor to your grilling.
White Peaches. I love peaches on the grill. They'll make a delicious addition to salads, beverages, and as sides.
Have you tried Pecan Wood for smoking? It has a wonderful flavor that will really enhance your grilled dishes.I love Ginger with Oriental dishes. It will bring that Oriental flavor to your rubs, marinades, salads, and desserts.
Whiskey can be used to help with low and slow cooking with marinades and sauces.
Next the report lists nine condiment and spice combinations. I'll list just one: jerk ketchup, made of ketchup and caribbean jerk seasoning.
The report also gives you a technique for greatly reducing your marinade time. Go from an hour to five minutes.
Get some tips for using charred fruits in drinks. The report will tell you how long you need to grill each type of fruit.
I recently told you about my attempt at trying some new types of S'Mores. The report gives you yet some additional ideas, like making a chocolate pretzel s'more.
If you've wondered what type of wood you should use for smoking different types of food, this report gives you that info, along with the Grill Mates seasoning that would go with the wood type and food also.
Next, you'll learn how to make a smoker out of either your gas grill or charcoal grill.
Lastly, find out what about grilling bread.
