Grill Gadget of the Week: Grill Hat

LED Hat

If you are looking for a solution to light up your grill when you grill at night (after all, we all do that, right!), here’s something you might not have considered. An LED hat! Basically, it’s a baseball camp with LED lights under the brim. There are 3 LEDs, one in the middle of the brim, and one on each side. You can turn on just one or all three. It uses two lithium batteries, #CR2032.

The advantages of such a hat are that it keeps you completely hands free, provides something cool to wear, and is versatile for other projects. There’s lots of uses for a hat like this, such as:

  • Provides light when walking at night, such as when walking the dog, leaving a late evening concert, etc.
  • Handy for finding things in a dark area when you need your hands
  • It would be great when you are camping
  • Reading in the dark
  • Last, but not least, grilling in the dark.

Not only will you have light at the grill, but you will also have immediate light anywhere in your grilling area. I have one small light about 20 feet from my grill and it doesn’t light up the area much. Heck, I could even sit and read a book while I was tending the grill!

This hat would also be great to have in the trunk of your car for emergency situations. No need to hold a flashlight, just put your hat on, turn on the LEDs and you have instant light.

The disadvantages is that you’ll have some batteries in the hat on your head, and the lights might not be as bright as some others. But they may be bright enough.

I like to look at Amazon for the reviews and see what people are saying. With a total of 36 reviews as of day, it has an average of 4.6 stars. Overall, people are very pleased with this hat.

If you have not had success with the traditional grill light, this may be an option for you to try. If it doesn’t work out for you with the grill, it’s still plenty useful for many other uses.
