Charlies Dutch Oven Corn Bread

Dutch Oven CornbreadCornbread and soup or stew make a great pair. Here's a corn bread recipe you can cook in one Dutch oven while you are cooking a delicious soup or stew in another.  I made this while I was cooking Dutch Oven Cowboy Stew.  A delicious combination!

Charlies Dutch Oven Corn Bread
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 20 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Ingredients
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbps sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1 8oz can creamed corn
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients well.
  2. Pour into a well-greased Dutch oven.
  3. Bake with 8 coals underneath and 16 coals on top for about 20 minutes.
