If your husband or father likes to cook outdoors, here are a number of ideas for gifts for Father's day:
BBQ Smoker
If you haven't had food cooked in a smoker, you are really missing out. It's the best way to do ribs, since you cook them at a lower temperature, for a long time. The meat just falls off the bones. And I love smoked chicken. It gives it such a great flavor. The one on the left uses charcoal, while the one on the right is electric. I have the electric version and just love it. The advantage of electric is that you can essentially set it and forget it. I'll put meat in it in the morning, come back at night and it's done and ready to eat. The charcoal smoker will take a bit more care, but you can regulate the temperature better. Either one will provide great tasting smoked food. Don't forget to get some wood chips!
Charcoal Chimney Starter
Outdoor chefs who prefer grilling the traditional way will find this chimney starter system invaluable. No more waiting around while the charcoal slowly heats up--the chimney's durable aluminized-steel cylinder causes the flames to ignite each briquette quickly and evenly. To get things fired up, simply fill the chimney with briquettes, place crumpled newspaper, and set in a kettle-style grill. A touch of a match through the holes at the bottom starts the fire, and within minutes the grill's ready to cook up burgers, hot dogs, or whatever's on the menu.
Portable Grill
If he has a grill at home, but nothing for the park, or tailgaiting, consider a portable grill. This grill is just the right size to fit in the car and use anywhere. Bayou Classic's new portable charcoal grill is a tailgaters dream! It comes with shoulder-strap tote bag and assembles in seconds! After you are through grilling, just empty out the ashes, then Fold-N-Go!
Grill Thermometer
Quickly and easily determine the internal temperatures of food with this 6-1/2-inch cooking thermometer. The unit's long stem inserts effortlessly into food, while its digital display clearly indicates the current temperature in degrees F. In addition, three push-button controls offer on/off, auto/off, and max/min selections. The handy tool includes a protective plastic sleeve with a clip for carrying it in a pocket--great when hands are fool with grilling tools or platters of food. The digital pocket thermometer measures approximately 6-1/2 by 2 by 1 inches.
