Grilled potatoes is one of my favorite ways to make potatoes. When I'm doing steaks or pork chops on the grill, I often throw some potatoes on the grill also.
To make grilled potatoes, cut the potatoes into wedges. Put into a bowl and toss with a tablespoon or two of oil, and some salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Sometimes I'll microwave the potato wedges first if I need to get them done a little bit quicker.
After you add the oil and seasonings, put the potatoes on a hot grill, grill on one side and then turn.
I love to eat them by dipping into a little sour cream.

On the grilled potatoes, do you boil them first for a few minutes? If not, how long do you grill them for?

John, I don’t usually boil them first, but I have cooked them in a microwave for a period of time, just to shorten the time on the grill. How long you need to cook them on the grill depends a lot of how hot your grill is, where you have the potatoes, and even how big the wedges are. So I usually use the taste test with one of the medium sized wedges. I would say that I grill them for about 5-7 minutes on one side, 5-7 minutes on another, and then break one in half and test it. If it isn’t done, then turn them again and cook for 5-7 minutes more and then taste test again.
John… another fantastic way to BBQ spuds are to cut in wedges, as you do, and then marinate in Italian Dressing for about 1 hour….. then, just before putting on the grill, take out of the marinade and sprinkle with freshly grated parmasian cheese.
The dressing gives it all of the different flavor that other spices do, and the parmasian cheese adds just the punch that they need…..
I could make a meal just out of the potatos themselves…

Rick, that sounds awesome! Another thing to try the next time I grill potatoes.
Last time we went camping, we made sweet potatoes over the campfire. We took sliced sweet potatoes, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. We wrapped the whole pile in aluminum foil and put it in the fire pit (on the side) for about 30 minutes. It was amazing!! My kids like to camp just for the great food!!
